Reverend Keith R. Moore. Pastor Elect, Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church
There is still much work to do!
(Matthew 25: 21) His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!”
As we spent most of 2012-13 traveling to different locations each Sunday to support a church whose pastor was either sick, in hospital, or a church without a shepherd; we felt so blessed that we were able to celebrate these Sundays praising with other congregations, like minded Christians, but always knowing we were going home soon to Goodwin, to continue our praise under the leadership of the Reverend Dr. James D. Jackson, Pastor.
Now the Lord has called on Reverend Keith Moore to lead His flock at Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Altoona PA. A church who had been seeking a Shepherd for over two years. The Lord has given us a great task! As we transition out of Goodwin there are many fond memories for my husband that will stay with him forever!
Being a member of Goodwin for over 40 years serving in the Youth Choir, Trustee ministry, and Basketball Coach; the Adult and Mass choirs. Sunday School Teacher for the New Harvest, Senior Adults, Adults, Men’s, Teenagers and Young adult classes; Director of the Children’s Church ministry and most recently the Spiritual Leader of all youth and young adults of Goodwin, and as if that wasn’t enough… On November 25, 2001, he was ordained a Deacon; and to prepare himself for ministry and his journey, in May 2009 Reverend Moore successfully graduated from the Church Leadership Institute in Christian Studies and Youth Ministry. In 2010, he was licensed by Pastor Jackson to preach the Gospel; and on February 11, 2012, Reverend Moore was solemnly and publicly set apart, and ordained to the lifelong work of the Gospel Ministry. He is currently in full time seminary at Lancaster Theological Seminary studying in their Masters of Divinity program.
Rev. described each task given to him as a blessing from God. When I asked him what the hardest part was for him as he transitions out of Goodwin, he said “The children! Our children, the youth and young adults make me so proud! They’re going on to do great things”. I never thought that I would be elsewhere when they achieved the many great successes I know God has planned for them; I just assumed I would be with them always”.
As we leave our family and our Goodwin family, we know that we serve a God of all authority. When He decides it is time to go, we know it is time to take on the role and responsibilities he has for us. Prayerfully, we look forward to the time when you will decide to surprise us, and join us for a service in Altoona to celebrate, give praise and fellowship with our new extended Mount Zion family.
We thank everyone who had a part in Rev’s life, spiritual growth and walk. We will miss, and love you all and look forward to fellowship with you again in the future!
Respectfully submitted: Minister, Ruth S. Moore. First Lady.
